In the beginning

First of all I want to say that I hope this page is helpful to those who use it. Bike Polo is new to me and I am learning about it little by little because at this point there is no polo in Lethbridge. As I Learn more I will organize my findings on this blog. The concept is that I know a little, the next person knows a little more and so on until we have a complete understanding of what is going on. So having said all that please feel free to bring to the table any little morsel of information that you may have. The pictures show some prototypes that I have been working on. Bamboo ski poles (made in Norway (who knew that Bamboo grew in Norway?) from salvation army. The mallet head was cut from an old potato canon, made from ABS plastic pipe. I used some hardware that is simular to the stuff they used in the video http://www.vimeo.com/5334556 to secure the pipe to the ski pole. Happy building.

can't quite tell for sure in the picture, but looks like 1 1/2" pipe....go with 2". It's pretty much the standard these days. Some still use the skinnier stuff, but not too many. Also check out www.leagueofbikepolo.com for tons of polo info. As for rules, we are just in the process of finalizing the "official" rules for North American Championship tournaments, and all of the major Regional tournaments. YOu can find the draft here: http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AZwggtI5salfZHhjNDJyNl8yZm5wN3ZiZzY&hl=en The are subject to change, but gettting close to being the final draft...
